The trip and wedding were amazing! The resort (THE Royal in Playa del Carmen) was very nice, the food was great, and the reception was perfection!

I was in a group of 12 who stayed at The Royal from Jan 9-Jan 15,. All of our rooms were beautiful and very large. All of the rooms had balconies w/ hammocks. You could see the ocean to the left, the dive tank to the right and the courtyard was in front of us. We stayed in rooms 809,810,811,816,820,and 822.

When we reached the hotel Alex(bellboy-who works in the lobby) greeted us by saying Welcome Home. This was the perfect start to a perfect vacation. We were greeted w/ apple coolers, a refreshing drink made w/ white wine, sprite, and apple liquor. Once we checked in our bags were brought to our rooms and our vacation began.

The restaurants were great. We ate at a different one each night. I tried sushi for the first time at asiana and it was great. We had surf and turf at maria marie's. At Pelicano's you should try the scallops with feta cheese sauce, they were great. At Spice, which is the buffet-the food was always fresh and great, and if they didn't have what you wanted they would try to make it for you. (One person in my group wanted a grilled cheese).

The service was exceptional. Every person was right there for you whenever you needed. Mare (Maria) who works in the lobby bar and the tequileria cigar bar at night was exceptional. Ask her for a tequila boom boom, best tequila shot I've ever had.

We also ate at both restaurants at the sister resort across the street. Both were excellent. Maria's is Mexican-I ate fajita's they were great. I know I should have tried some real Mexican food, but I saw them on someone else’s plate and I had to have them. Il Pescatore is an Italian restaurant. The food was fabulous there as well. Make sure you check out the swing bar on the beach in from of the sister resort. David and Alex make a great drink and serve up a bunch of laughs.

This Hotel is by far the best I have stayed at EVER. Their service is better than you can imagine, the food was incredible-no matter what time of day or night. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to have a great time and relax. The pool wash refreshing, and the ocean was pristine.

I book my vacation through Jennifer at Berman Travel. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to go. She answered any questions and was able to accommodate 12 different people for a fabulous vacation.

If you like being taken care of, and given the highest quality of service you should go to this resort.

I personally love this resort. This where I take my daughters (who are grown) for our annual father daughter getaway, They love the beach, pool, food, accommodations, and especially the service which is amazing.

They also love the shopping, and nighlife of 5th ave 1 block away.

High Marks For the Royal and Our Melissa

We stayed at the Royal 4/17-4/25 and had a great experience from start to finish. My husband and I traveled with another couple celebrating our 20th anniversaries. Our rooms were junior oceanfront suites with fantastic views. The suite was beautiful and the bed was almost too comfortable! We had no complaints at all with our accommodations. The service was excellent throughout the resort. Everyone was hardworking and friendly (especially Rafael at the pool!) My friend and I had a spa treatment and we were impressed with the service and atmosphere there as well. We did tip on occasion for exceptional service but we never felt like it was expected. We all thought the food was excellent and we talked with other couples who do all-inclusives frequently and they thought the food was very good as well. We especially enjoyed Spice for the breakfast buffet and Pelicano's for lunch. We were able to attend the Chef's Plate dinner with our suite category and would recommend if available to you (reservations required). The meal itself was escellent and we met several couples from other parts of the world which made for interesting and fun dinner conversation! The lobby bar nightlife was rather low key, but that suited us fine as we were wanting to relax. Several people took the bus or other transportation to local bars and nightclubs without any problems. There seemed to be plenty of chairs for everyone around the pool, but if you wanted a specific location it was worth it to get there early. We were up early anyway so that was no problem. We planned our trip through Berman Travel and had Melissa Tamaro as our agent. Would highly recommend!! She was extremely helpful in helping us find the best resort to fit our needs and she arranged the flights, reservations, etc. She was able to be in touch with the management prior to our arrival to be sure our requests were met and our check-in went smoothly. She also arranged our private airport transfers ahead of time. Would highly recommend that - it was nice not having to wait on other travelers and our travel time was only 20 minutes each way. It was also reassuring to know we had someone to contact if we had any problems (we didn't!). We planned this vacation several months in advance and we had high expectations. The Royal (and Berman Travel) definitely exceeded those expectations and we plan to return!
