Day 3 | Edinburgh | Today, visit Edinburgh Castle, home to the Scottish Crown Jewels. Then it's your choice! Get acquainted with this regal city on a locally guided tour of the Old Town and New Town via motor coach -OR- join a local expert and explore the Old Town and Royal Mile on foot. Whichever you choose, you can enjoy the afternoon to explore the city independently. Day 4 | Edinburgh | Say farewell to the rolling hills of Scotland while travelling south through the Borders Region, stopping at Gretna Green, a popular wedding destination. Visit the archeological site of Vindolanda, an Ancient Roman fortress built along Hadrian's Wall in the 2nd century to protect Roman Britain from the tribes of Scotland. Arrive in the medieval city of York, which is surrounded by historical city walls. This evening you may join an optional tour to an alehouse to sample a selection of ciders, lagers and ales and enjoy a farm-to-table dinner. |
Day 5 | York | Enjoy a leisurely morning to explore York at your own pace. Meander the labyrinth of quaint, narrow streets the locals call Snickelways or maybe visit the city's famous Minster. End the day in Chester, your home for the next two nights, where ancient walls enclose charming Tudor and Victorian houses. |
Day 6 | Chester | Embark on a panoramic city tour and then walk through Chester's Rows. Lunch is at a historic pub. Continue on to London, England's storied capital city. |
Day 9 | London | Take in the sites of London on a tour of the city's quintessential sights. Begin with a walking tour of Westminster, where you see Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Continue to Buckingham Palace, the official residence of His Majesty The King, and make your way past St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London.
